Repair or replace
When a repair is the honest answer.
Repair is the right call when the damage is contained, the surrounding shingles still have meaningful service life, and the underlying decking is sound. A localised failure on a ten-year-old roof is a repair, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling.
Replacement becomes the honest answer when you’re seeing repeat leaks in different locations, widespread granule loss, or soft decking. At that point a repair is money spent to delay a decision by a season.
We’ll tell you which situation you’re in and show you the evidence. If you want to think about it, that’s fine — but we’ll also tell you plainly if waiting is going to cost you decking.
