Financing  /  New Braunfels, Texas

Paying for a roof replacement.

A roof replacement is rarely a planned purchase. It arrives after a storm or after a leak, and it arrives at whatever moment it arrives. Here’s how homeowners generally pay for one.
The routes

How most roofs get paid for.

Insurance. Where storm damage is involved and the claim is approved, you pay your deductible and the carrier covers the approved scope. Whether that’s most of the cost or a fraction depends on whether you hold an RCV or ACV policy — see roof replacement cost.

Direct payment. Straightforward, and worth asking whether paying directly is cheaper than financing once fees are counted.

Contractor-arranged financing. Many roofing companies offer financing through a third-party lender. Terms vary widely and deferred-interest offers can be expensive if not cleared inside the promotional window.

Home equity. Frequently the lowest rate available for a project of this size, though it takes longer to arrange and secures the debt against the house.
Worth knowing

Questions to ask about any financing offer.

Financing is a product being sold to you alongside the roof, and it deserves the same scrutiny as the roof.
